Passport applications

Today we went to the Multnomah Building and renewed our passports! We had to submit Marshal’s in person because his last passport was from before he was 16 years old. I could have done mine through the mail, but decided to just do them together. It was a bit confusing at first when we were figuring out what exactly we needed. We forgot to bring check or money order, so we had to walk to the post office. I had to re-fill out my paper work because the one I had was mail only. It went well though. I am starting to get really excited about the trip! To celebrate, I am meeting a fellow German language student this evening at a local Portland bar called Prost. They have all the best German beers in town.

Wir reisen nach Deutschland!

Last November we bought tickets to Amsterdam from Portland, OR on Icelandair.com. They were the cheapest I could find. I meticulously went through all of the cities in Europe that Iceland air flies. I also checked the prices over a couple months. They dropped a couple hundred on Thanksgiving day and I pounced. Portland to Copenhagen was actually the cheapest, but we want to see Amsterdam first. I’m already thinking for our next trip we will fly to Denmark. My husband and I have family and friends in Germany and we plan to go every two years. I also am 2 classes short of a Bachelor’s degree in German. This trip has been years in the making and I want to document whatever I can safely.
